Trivia[]

  • Nimona would have been the second Blue Sky Studios film produced by 20th Century Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures after Spies in Disguise.
  • Under Blue Sky, the film was reported to be the studio's most complex film to date: the team wanted to utilize an art style combining 2D animation techniques with 3D, similar to their work on The Peanuts Movie.
  • Had the film been finished under Blue Sky, it is believed it would have followed a screenplay written by Marc Haimes and a score by Ludwig Göransson. Haimes is still credited as story writer for the finished film.
  • At one point in the film, Nimona passes by a billboard with graffitied words on it that reads "Blue Sky Never Dies."
  • The end credits' section for Blue Sky includes an image of Nimona as a squirrel eating an acorn, a nod to Scrat, Blue Sky's mascot, and "The End", the final piece of animation done by the studio before its closure.
